Editorial | Captain America

June 2019

My nerd flag is about to fly real high, friends. The concept for this shoot came after seeing Marvel's Endgame in theaters last spring. If you haven't already seen it, spoiler alert - the final scene features the reunion of Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Agent Peggy Carter and the happily ever after they deserved. That two minute scene inspired this modern meets vintage, Captain America editorial.

Shot at MAPS Air Museum in Canton, Ohio (where you can ACTUALLY host your own wedding!), all the details that went into this shoot embodied a modern twist on World War II era America. We dressed our "Peggy" in a sleek, backless gown from Something White bridal and went classic, yet retro with her hair and makeup - a twist on liberty curls and a red lip, of course. The jewelry choice was easy. We chose a gorgeous, vintage diamond and sapphire halo ring from Erstwhile Jewelry. It felt reminiscent of Captain America's shield and couldn't have been more perfect for this shoot. We went with a classic navy suit from The Black Tux for our "Steve", and gave him a custom "CAP" tie bar to complete the look.

Rose Gold Studio took our stationary mood board to the next level with this suite. Watercolor stars and stripes and modern calligraphy complimented the inspiration perfectly. Beyond that, she researched actual names of Steve & Peggy's parents in the original comics and used that and a fictional, yet true to their story, location for their nuptials. I love her for this extreme attention to detail.

We wanted the florals to be wild, home grown, and to give a feel of coming right off the quintessential American farm. Sticking with shades of red, white, and blue - they complimented the army drab green table cloths and the industrial hanger space at MAPS. Root Design Co. never fails with the dreamy floral designs. Perfectly imperfect always.

Since I can't remember when It's been a long, long time You'll never know how many dreams I've dreamed about you"
